What You See Is What You Get

Join me in my life of a regular Singaporean. Where there is nothing to do but shop and eat.
I am a 25 year old fresh IT grad searching for a career in a highly competitive market. At the moment I spend most of my life in front of my laptop. The internet is my currency to the world while I have none to spare ($$$). Read my thoughts and opinion. My triumphs and my breakdowns. I do not seek to inspire or beg to be praised. Simply my honest takes and I am all there is. |

.::The Quiet Bazaar at Istana Kampung Gelam::.
Me & Haz met up at Toa Payoh Hub after my Tajwid class just to collect Haz's spectacles that he'd sent for repair around 2 weeks ago
There was a multi-coating depletion issue with it
The good thing is...the agent repaired it F-O-C
Yummy deal indeed
Then i made my necessary cash transactions at the POSB & UOB automated machines
And Haz couldn't resist the tempation to balance his account
It was short of a few dollars to make a whole number
What the heck...it's his wierd habit
But he's my baby
Then we took the south-bound train and interchanged it at City Hall station to the east-bound train to Bugis station
Haz had another collection to do;
One of his Casio watches had a broken strap
Couldn't get a replacement at ANY watch retailer we've ever been to inquire
Because of the special design of the strap
So had to send back to agent
The sad thing is...the watch is not back at the Casio shop he sent it to yet
Another 3 to 6 weeks said the shop assistant
So be it...
Since we already were at Bugis, we both had a sudden simultaneous hankering to find Bussorah Street where they have a small take-out bazaar just like in Geylang
The tricky part is...none of us were sure of the exact location of Bussorah Street
Just an optimistic clue that it was somewhere near the Sultan Mosque, and vague memories of our childhood experiences tagging along with both our parents, to guide us
Though i've spoken my thoughts out loud, "I wish i have GPS!"
We literally had to follow our every available sense and intuition through every nook and turn of the small streets of Arab Street
Till at one time Haz exclaimed "There it is!"
A fairly quiet affair alongside the street just outside the historical Istana Kampong Gelam
We had found it :)
It was worth the try
And we went back contented, packing into our bags a few of the many types of traditional kuih from the bazaar
There was not many people there at that time of day compared to the maddening crowd that had already formed at Geylang; like a paroxysm of fungi growth after a long tropical rainfall
The reason was palpable after a few attempts at enquiring the price of the foods sold there
Costing at least 75% more of what could have been offered for the same kind of food at Geylang
For what was worth, i'm definitely not going back there again
Though for me & Haz, it was a good time spent together till next we meet
